Abstract
380,146. Look-out reflectors for vehicles. WILLIAMS, A. S. V., 41, Living- stone Road, Handsworth, Birmingham. Jan. 15, 1932, No. 11188/31. [Class 103 (ii).] An observation device for obtaining an advance view to the side of motor vehicles comprises one or more pairs of obliquely-disposed co-operating receiving and object mirrors mounted on a common support, the object mirror or mirrors being in advance of the radiator. The receiving mirrors 1, 2, Fig. 1, are adjustably mounted on the legs 10 of a bracket 11, Fig. 3, having a pin-and-slot connection with the upper part 6 of a framework, extensions 9 of which support adjustable object mirrors 3, 4. In a modification the object mirrors are placed between the receiving mirrors while the frame engages beneath the radiator cap and has fixed extensions down the sides of the bonnet. Lenses may be used in combination with the mirrors to enlarge the view. The mirrors may be of flat, concave, or convex shape and of silvered glass or polished metal and may be made integral with a universal or other joint. Parts of the apparatus, e.g. the mirrors, may be enclosed.
