Abstract

Pile supports.-In a device, for separating and feeding sheets from a fanned out pile such as is described in Specification 294,801, the pile of sheets is supported upon a rack formed of a number of curved rods g adjustably secured to a shaft c fitted at its ends with rollers d adapted to move over rails b as the pile is advanced. The sheets can be placed on the rack before it is introduced into the machine, and the outer curved members g' of the rack may be formed with hooks for securing the rack to narrow outer belts 27<a> of the conveying belts which advance the pile. In the lower part of Fig. 1, the rail b is arranged near the lowest conveyer in a machine of the kind described in Specification 294,801 in which three sets of belts are used. The table 30 arranged in conjunction with the belts 27 mav be formed with grooves 30<a> to receive the ends of the rods g. If only the upper set of belts is employed the sheets may be placed on the upperset of curved rods g.
