Sheet-registering devices; sheet-carriers.-In a sheet-registering and forwarding table for folding, printing, or other machines comprising a series of parallel driven rollers and a side-guide, sheet-influencing members adjustable relatively to the side-guide are provided to regulate the travel of the sheets towards the side-guide. In one form, Figs. 2 and 8, the rollers 12 are arranged perpendicularly to the side-guide 15, which is adjustable on crossbars 11 fixed to the main frame 10. The guide 15 consists of a vettical plate shaped to fit over the rollers 12 and having angle-bars 19 fixed on each side to prevent buckling of the sheets. A bar 20 fixed adjustably to the bars 11 by means of engaging-jaws 21 and set-screws 23 carries a number of adjustable brackets 26 each having mounted therein a disc 30 which is adapted to bear on the sheet just above or slightly displaced from the axis of the roller 12 beneath it. When the bar 20 is inclined to the guide 15, the discs 30 co-operate with the rollers 12 to feed the sheets forward and register them against the side-guide 15. By moving the guide 15 and suitably adjusting the bar 20 the mechanism may be used for registering sheets at the opposite side of the table. In a modification, Fig. 10, in which the feed rollers 42 are arranged obliquely to the side-guide 69 and balls 53 are employed in place of the discs 30, a plate 61 slotted to receive the balls 53 has fixed thereto steel blocks 64 slotted to fit over projecting lips 70 on the existing side-guide 69 and be adjustably secured thereto by a set-screw 66. In another form, brackets 77, Fig. 11, adapted to hold the balls 53 are adjustably mounted on a rod 76 fixed by set-screws 75 to members 72 adjustably secured to the side-guide 44 which is mounted on the feed-table by means of screw fittings 48. The balls may be of steel or other suitable material or may be of differing materials so as to space the sheets as described in Specification 281,599.
