673,930. Feeding sheets. SMYTH MANUFACTURING CO. March 24, 1948 [July 28, 1947], No. 8661/48. Drawings to Specification. Class 100 (i). A stack mechanism for sheets or book components comprises a plurality of carrying means and means for moving them all successively upward, a stack plate to support a stack of sheets or components and engaged with one of the carrying means so as to be moved upward with its stack, the plate being adapted to be manually withdrawn transversely from its carrying means and from beneath the stack, and a second stack plate below the first and supporting a second similar stack and being movable relatively rapidly upward to a position where the top of the stack engages the first stack plate below and in register with the first stack, the second stack plate in said position being engaged with one of'the carrying means so that on transverse withdrawal of the first stack plate the two stacks are united and moved upward by the second stack plate. The mechanism forms part of the machine described in Specification 673,929.
