Abstract
1375100 Feeding sheets EICKHOFFUNIVERSAL WELLPAPPENMASCHINEN GmbH 21 Nov 1972 [22 Dec 1971] 53808/72 Heading B8R In apparatus for feeding the bottom blank 15 of a stack 16, the leading edge 34 of the stack is supported on a support table, and the trailing edge 32 is supported above the support table on support means 20 having a plurality of support ledges (88, Fig. 4) spaced across the width of the support table. Suction is applied to the underside of the bottom blank 15 through perforations in the top of the support table leading to a number of selectively operable subchambers 92. The bottom blank 15 is advanced beneath gate 48 by a reciprocating feeder bar 120 simultaneously exposing the next bottom blank to suction which exposure begins at its trailing edge and continues to its leading edge as the blank being fed moves forward. Plates 112 are selectively positionable to close off the subchambers 92. Stop feed or skip feed means are provided for lifting the support ledges (88) and therefore the rear of the stack out of the path of the feeder bar 120. The support means 20 is longitudinally adjustable to cater for blanks of different lengths. The support table has a recessed part (64, Fig. 1) where an operator may stand. However, with long blanks, an additional section of table is pivoted into the recessed part (64) and is longitudinally adjustable therein. This additional section (111) is connected to the suction producing means by a flexible hose (115). The feeder bar 120 has small pads of PTFE which contact spaced parallel runners on the surface of the support table.
