Abstract

305,795. Scott, F. S. Jan. 23, 1928. Atmospheric gas burners; cocks, arrangements and applications of.-In a double burner having two horizontal mixing-tubes communicating respectively through a chamber 3 and a tubular member 6 with outlet orifices 10, 11 so as to provide either a large or a smaller flame, the mixing-tubes 1, 2 are arranged side by side at the same level. The tube 6 is seated upon the outlet 5 of a subchamber 4 and is clamped in position together with a cover-plate 8 by a bolt 9. The tubes 1, 2 are preferably cast integral with the chambers 3, 4 and are formed with ridges 29 to carry a. baffle 17 over the air-inlets 15, 16. The tube 1 is of D-shaped cross-section. The nipples 12, 13 are attached to the casing 14 of a gas-cock 22 having a port 26 opening at one end into a peripheral recess 27. When the handle 23 of the cock is directed towards the nipple 12, the full supply of gas passes to the orifices 10 and, when the handle is pointed towards the nipple 13, a restricted supply passes by way of the recess 27 to the orifices 11. The passages 24, 25 in the casing are arranged so that one passage is opened before the other is completely closed, one burner being thereby ignited by the other.
