Abstract
305,515. Jodrey, E. W. Nov. 3, 1927. Condensers are made according to a process which consists in coating or impregnating metal foil paper with cellulose esters, such as acetate or colledion. Tissue paper has a continuous coating of a suitable adhesiveness applied to one or both its sides by means of a roller, and metal powder is applied to the surface which, after drying and calendering, is burnished or treated so that the powder forms a continuous layer. The dielectric is applied by running through a solution, or painting with solution, or the coating may be formed of very thin sheets of a cellulose ester. The ester is caused to adhere tc the tin, aluminium, copper, or other metal by means of an adhesive such as ester solution, ester solvent, varnish, or cement, the foil surface being roughened by mechanical or chemical means, such as a sand blast or an acid. The condenser so formed may be sealed by the use of a cellulose ester, applied either as a film round the layers or to hold them in position. The Provisional Specifications also state that the coating or impregnating is applicable to metallic sheets.
