Abstract
304,869. Mangoletsi, G. A. Nov. 17, 1927. Cam mechanism, particularly for engine valves, of the kind in which positive operation in both directions is effected by double cam or like means, is provided with a rocking arm connected to the valve through yielding means in both directions. A main cam o actuates a rocker l, and an auxiliary cam q actuates a rocker r, which has a spring portion t engaging the rocker l. This latter rocker has a forked arm k embracing flats formed-on a member f screwed to the valve stem c, and bears against stops u, v and spring washers z, 10, the former of which is preferably stronger than the latter, so as to have a valve-closing effect. The stops u, v are also formed with flats embraced by the forked arm k, whereby their rotation is prevented. The cams may be shaped so that the spring t is slightly stressed at valveopening.
