Abstract

Feed-mechanism.-An electrical device for reproducing recorded sound or like vibrations or an electric recording device having a stylus acting on a guiding groove on a blank, is fed across the record or blank by means of an auxiliary stylus engaging in the groove in which the reproducing or recording stylus acts. In the construction shown, a permanent magnet 1, with windings 2, has an armature 6 mounted between the poles 3, the armature being supported at its upper end by opposed springs 7 which are adjustable by means of a grub screw 9. A frame 4 mounted on the magnet is provided with a socket 5 for a needle or sapphire, which engages the same groove as a needle carried by the armature in a socket 13, and serves to feed the whole device across the record or blank, and to relieve the load on the reproducing or recording stylus. The armature and pole-pieces are of V cross-section, and damping material such as tissue paper or rubber is packed between the armature and the pole-pieces.
