Abstract

304,616. Wieth, R. Jan. 19, 1928, [Convention date]. Exhaust silencers. - A casing a lined with asbestos or like substance and of cylindrical or prismatic form, is divided by partitions c, d, e into chambers some of which contain tubes g<1>, h bent almost to circles. The tube g<1> forms part of the inlet tube g and the tube h part of the outlet tube i, both tubes tapering in the direction of gas flow. The outlet end g<2> of tube g<1>, and the inlet end h<2> of the tube h are set obliquely to the general plane of the tubes. The partitions c, e are provided with apertures f, and the tube i with apertures k, l. The outlet tube m is provided with a worm n of aluminium. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a chamber o near the inlet which communicates with the inlet pipe g through holes p, and acts as a reservoir in case of excessive flow or pressure. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
