Abstract

304,211. Associated Electrical Industries, Ltd., (formerly Metropolitan- Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd.), (Assignees of Crichton, L. N.). Jan. 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Controlling consuming devices. - A lightsensitive control device for controlling street lamps &c. comprises a light-sensitive cell 9, and an induction relay 5, depending on the product of the currents in two windings for its operating power, one winding, 8, being supplied direct from the mains, the other, 7, being in series with the cell 9 and the electric mains. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the lamp 4 is controlled by a mercury switch 15 connected by bevel gearing to the relay spindle 12. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown) the restoring torque on the relay shaft is effected by an additional winding on the relay, and a moving contact brings into operation a further relay.
