Abstract

500,561. Transformers; electric heating. STROHER, G. F. Aug. 10, 1937, No. 22048. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] Hair-waving apparatus of the kind in which heaters are supplied with low tension current from a transformer 1 comprises (a) a casing 2 housing the transformer, the primary winding of which is provided with coarse and fine tappings, (b) terminals 6 supplying heating elements and connected to the output side of the transformer by leads 7, and (c) means for connecting the main supply leads 13a, 13b, to the primary tappings consisting of a two way switch 19 controlling the connections to the coarse tappings and a multiple contact switch 21 for the fine tappings. The switches are mounted on the cover 3. A time switch 15 interrupts the current after a predetermined period. For use on a D.C. supply, a converter may be connected to a second set of tappings on the transformer. A lamp 27 mounted on the cover shows when the apparatus is in operation.
