Abstract
301,755. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Cellulose acetates. - For the manufacture of cellulose acetates, particularly acetone-soluble acetates, there is employed as the catalyst, zinc chloride together with free sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid preferably in the proportion of 6 : 4 : 0.5 parts by weight per 100 parts of cellulose or a substance yielding hydrochloric acid, for example acetyl chloride or tetrachlorethane preferably in the amounts corresponding to 2.5 or 25 parts by weight respectively per 100 parts of cellulose. The product of acetylation may be hydrolyzed by the known methods.
