Cellulose acetates.-Acetone soluble cellulose acetates are obtained by treating a cellulose triacetate, isolated as such, with a mixture of dilute mineral acids, for example a mixture of dilute nitric and sulphuric acids. In an example a cellulose triacetate is heated with a 10 per cent nitric acid containing 0.5-1.0 per cent sulphuric acid. Specifications 19330/05 and 24067/06 are referred to.
