Abstract

Gas cooking-stoves; air supply for combustion. -In a gas oven having a door 2 at the front and a burner 4 at the rear lower corner, waste gas openings 6 are arranged adjacent the front and below the level of the door opening, the gases passing by substantially horizontal passages 7 to a vent-pipe 8 at the rear. In the construction shown the openings 6'communicate with a flue 5 extending across the front of the stove and leading to two lateral flues 7 provided with sliding dampers 11, and the vent-pipe 8 at the rear is of Y or T form and provided with a damper 9. Air for combustion is heated in a jacket space 23 around the pipe 8 and passes through an opening 25 to the space adjacent the burner. The flue 5 may be replaced by two pockets, one at each front cover of the oven, connected to the flues 7 and communicating by one or more openings with the interior of the oven. In a modification, the flues 7 are replaced by a single centrally-arranged flue with a funnel-shaped intake portion, the larger end of which forms the waste gas opening at the front of the oven bottom. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 7, the waste gas flue is formed below a removable bottom plate 17, having openings 19 for the passage of the gases. Air for combustion is heated in a chamber 23 formed between the vent-pipe 22 and the rear wall of the oven.
