Abstract

301,154. Harvey, H. R., and Scott, L. Sept. 30, 1927. Double-acting suction-valveless piston pumps. -A pump suitable for hot liquids comprises a casing h, to which the liquid is admitted, enclosing a pump barrel g provided about the middle of its length with inlet ports j, j<1> which are uncovered by the piston k near to the end of its strokes. The delivery valve chambers q, ql at the ends of the barrel are connected by a pipe o, so that the liquid from both ends of the pump passes to a common discharge pipe n. End blocks p, p<1> on the barrel are detachably secured to the valve blocks q, q<1>, and the block q<1> connects the casing h detachably to the bed r of the driving motor. In order to reduce the vacuum behind the piston, ball valves may be arranged at the ends of the barrel for admitting air or vapour from the upper part of the casing h.
