Abstract

299,628. Tomlin, W. Dec. 6, 1927. Butt joints.-A flange A, Fig. 1, is attached to a pipe C by forming it with a thin sleeve B having its outer end divided into sections by means of saw-cuts D, the sleeve being adapted to fit over the pipe end and to be contracted thereon by an external clamping ring E. In a modification, Fig. 3, the divided end of the sleeve is screw-threaded to receive a contracting nut E<1>.
