Abstract

320,682. M³hlberger, H. July 21, 1928. Rod couplings.-Two telescopic tubes A, B are coupled in any desired position by means of a nut C which is provided on the screwed end b of the inner tube. B and is longitudinally slotted at its lower end to form two chucks c which are adapted frictionally to engage the tube A upon rotation of the said inner tube. The interior surfaces of the chucks are of conical formation, while the part b<1> of the tube B adjacent the screwed end is made conical to coact therewith. The lower end of the nut is provided with notches c<1> which may be engaged by teeth a<1> formed on an internal shoulder a in the tube A to release said nut from the screw b should it become stuck.
