Abstract

299,420. Chevalley, J. Oct. 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Generating combustion products under pressure.-Exhaust gases resulting from combustion or explosion are used to induce the flow of and compress air or other gas. Exhaust flowing out of a pipe 12 enters a casing 42 and induces a flow of air which follows the path of the arrows 7; the exhaust flows through the casing 42 in the direction of the arrows 6. As shown two such injectors are used in series, the air from the casing 42 flowing through the pipes 10 to the inlets of a second injector 4, which receives the hottest exhaust gases. The device may be used to supply scavenging air for Diesel engines or air to the carburettor of explosion engines. In an apparatus for generating products of combustion under pressure the injector may be used to supply both the air and gaseous fuel. After leaving the injector the gases may be used to drive a turbine. The injector may supply air only, liquid or powdered fuel being supplied to the combustion chamber.
