299,156. Carey, R. F. Sept. 10, 1927. Universal joints.-Driving and driven shaft members a, a<1>, at least one preferably being slidable on its shaft, are provided with adjacent circumferential flanges b, b<1>, which are connected to an external ring C, Fig. 1, or internal cylindrical block C<1>, Fig. 3, by perpendicular pins d, d<1> secured by pins e in the ring C or flanges b, b<1>. Play is provided between the inner and outer coupling-members, and the pins d. d<1> are slidable in the flanges b, b<1> or block C<1> to permit lateral movement. The flanges b, b<1> may have Stauffer lubricators communicating with the pin bearings, the ring C being extended to cover them, or as shown in Fig. 6, a greasechamber g, provided with a screwed cap hand passages j, may be formed therein.
