Special quantities, registering.-Rotation of the meter in opposite directions due to energy reversal is registered on separate mechanisms connected bv epicyclic gear. The meter shaft a drives, through gearing b, c, a shaft d to which is secured the spindle h of a planet pinion g. Mounted freely on the shaft d are two sun pinions c, f having secured to them toothed pinions i, j engaging spur-wheels k, l, which operate the index fingers m, n. Oppositely acting pawls o, p are arranged in conjunction with the pinions i, j or ratchet-wheels q, r secured thereto, so that motion of the meter in one direction is registered by the finger m, and motion in the other directions is registered by the finger n. Each counting train may consist of a series of index fingers, as usual, and may actuate a demand indicator. Specification 242,750 is referred to.
