Imitation fires.-A screen 11 is provided to intercept the light rays passing through the rotary flicker device 10 which would, if allowed to fall on the reflector 15, appear to travel downwardly upon it, and so give an incorrect flame effect. The stove shown comprises two flicker devices, each consisting of an irregularly-surfaced glass dome 10, the two being rotated in opposite directions by any suitable means, for example of the type described in Specification 295,667, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.]. The screen 11, which is adjustably mounted in a slot 13 in the back of the stove casing, intercepts the rays through the two domes which would have appreciable downward motion on the reflector, and prevents intermingling of the flicker effects produced by the two devices. The screening may alternatively be provided by darkening a portion of the bulbs of the lamps 16.
