Abstract

Cylinders, ports and passage of. - In a twostroke-cycle engine cylinder, the scavenging ports 2, 3 are arranged in two groups and so that the two streams of air are directed either towards each other, or towards the cylinder wall opposite one or more exhaust ports 4, the supply of scavenging air being controlled by a positively or automatically opened valve: the ports 2, 3 slope towards the cylinder head. The valve shown is arranged between a channel 8 and a forked induction passage 6. The invention is applicable to both single and double-acting engines.
