Abstract

297,034. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Sept. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Coating-compositions.-Oil paints and varnishes contain an aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acid or derivatives such as homologues, halogen compounds, or etherified compounds or mixture of acids and derivatives. Polymerized linseed oil is heated to 110-130‹ C. and a small proportion of #-hydroxy naphthoic acid is stirred in until dissolved. Drier and thinner are added and the lacquer is ground with zinc white.
