Abstract

296,679. I, G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Sept. 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Coating-compositions.-Oil paints and varnishes contain a small proportion of an aliphatic carboxylic acid unsaturated in the alpha-# position or halogen hydroxyl or alkyl substituted derivatives thereof, whereby good covering and brushing properties are imparted to the paints, &c. and greater quantities of pigment than is usual may be incorpurated. Suitable acids are acrylic acid and polymerization products thereof, crotonic acid, sorbic acid, &c. The acids are dissolved in heated polymerized linseed oil. Dryers or thinners such as white spirit, &c. and zinc white are added. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the use of aliphatic carboxylic acids unsaturated in the # position or derivatives of these acids. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
