Abstract

296,992. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Sept. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Coating-compositions.-Oil paints and varnishes contain an amide of a carboxylic acid (including carbonic acid) or a derivative substituted in the amide group of acids or derivatives. Suitable materials are methylol benzamide, butyl urethane, methylol butyl urethane, ethyl glycol urethane, &c. In an example 100 parts of polymerized linseed oil are heated to 110-120‹ C. and parts of methylol benzamide are stirred in until dissolved. Drier or thinner are added and the laquer is ground with zinc white.
