Abstract
296,017. Clavel, R. Aug. 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Silk, treating; yarns, treating.-Silk in hank form is loaded in a centrifuge 4 by successive treatment with formic acid, stannic chloride and a phosphate solution in apparatus comprising a number of circuits one for each liquid and each including a supply vessel 1, 2 or 3 and means for returning the liquid to the supply vessel, the centrifuge 4 being common to all circuits. The liquids pass through a pipe 5 and a three-way cock, 6, 6<a>, 6b to the centrifuge 4 and are discharged through a pipe 8 to vessels 13, 14, 15, from whence they are returned through pumps 16, 17, 18 to the tanks 1, 2, 3. The silk may also be treated with sodium silicate while the pipes and treating vessels may be lined with acidresistant material, e.g. hard or vulcanized rubber.
