607,778. Bottle &c. washing-machines. DETREZ, R. July 28, 1945, No. 19371. Convention date, April 24, 1944. [Class 138 (i)] Washing-apparatus for vessels such as bottles, jugs, cans, flasks and the like comprises a tank 5 to contain washing liquid, an immersion pump 6 in the tank and a separate trough 1 to support vessels 2 to be washed and provided with means, such as jets 4, for supplying liquid to the vessels from one or more delivery pipes 9 between the pump and the trough, the delivery pipe or pipes extending through a wall of the tank above the normal liquid level thereof. The used liquid is returned to the tank through a spout 11, channel 12 and filter 7. The liquid in the tank may be heated by steam or hot water coils or electric, gas-fed or oil-fed heating elements, or coal furnaces immersed in the tank and having one or more compartments. The apparatus may comprise one or more tanks, troughs and pumps, and the tanks may have one or more compartments. Each pump may have a plurality of delivery pipes, of which one leads direct to the jets, one leads through a preheater to increase the liquid temperature, and one leads through a secondary tank containing water or other washing liquid to cool the liquid in the pipe and reduce risk of bottle breakages.
