Abstract
295,553. Barat, K. Feb. 2, 1928. Couplings, disconnectible; joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer part compressed.-A flexible tube 12 leading from an air pump is connected to a tyre valve 8 by a union which comprises a nozzle 1 adapted to be pressed into the valve stem and a bush 2 screwed thereon and provided with claws 5 adapted to grip the side of said valve stem and retain the nozzle 1 in position by operation of an external sleeve 7. The claws 5 are formed by providing the bush 2 with slots 4 and the ends 6 thereof are thickened both internally and externally, while the clamping sleeve 7 is formed internally with a cylindrical mouth communicating with a conical portion of lesser diameter so that as it is pushed forward it will first press the nozzle 1 into the valve stem and then actuate the claws 5. The tube 12 is itself connected to the union by being gripped between a conical cap 11 and a conepiece 10 which is inserted into the end of the tube 12 and screws onto an extension 9 of the nozzle 1.
