Abstract

295,477. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). June 25, 1927. Manures.-A mixed fertilizer free from useless ingredients contains nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium and comprises at least two of the salts potassium nitrate, ammonium nitrate, potassium phosphate, and ammonium phosphate. It is obtained by decomposing potassium fluosilicate with aqueous ammonia, treating the mixed solution of potassium and ammonium fluorides so obtained with mono- or di-calcium phosphate or with a phosphate solution obtained by treating crude or other phosphates with nitric or mixed nitric and sulphuric acids, if desired after removal from the solution of some of the phosphoric acid, filtering off the calcium fluoride formed, and recovering the fertilizer from the filtrate. The content of potassium in the product may be increased by converting a part of the mixed fluoride solution into nitrates by means of calcium nitrate, and removing the ammonium nitrate, if desired.
