Abstract

329,883. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). July1, 1929. Manures.-Fertilizer salts containing potash and nitrogen, or potash, nitrogen and phosphorus are prepared by treating potassium carbamate, or mixtures containing same, preferably in the absence of much water, with an acid and acid salt, or acid salt alone. The product if containing free acid, may be neutralized, preferably with ammonia. In examples, potassium carbamate is decomposed with concentrated nitric acid, forming a dry mixture of ammonium and potassium nitrate; with sulphuric acid and ammonium sulphate, or ammonium bisulphate; with a mixture of phosphoric and nitric acids; with a mixture of phosphoric acid, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate. Other substances, such as urea, or compounds containing phosphorus other than phosphoric acid, may also be added.
