Abstract
299,796. Johnson, J. Y., (1. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). June 29, 1927. Ammonium phosphate.-Mono- and di-calcium phosphates are treated in presence of water with ammonia or ammonium carbonate to yield a solution of ammonium phosphate and a residue of difficultly soluble calcium triphosphate, which is treated with acid to form further quantities of mono- and di-calcium phosphate. The reaction may be carried out under pressure and at raised temperatures. The conversion of the tricalcium phosphate may be effected by phosphoric acid, prepared by combustion of elementary phosphorus or by treating crude phosphate with sulphuric acid in which case calcium sulphate may be filtered or before or after the reaction with tri-calcium phosphate or with hydrochloric or nitric acid, in which case mono- or di-calcium phosphate may be separated by crystallization from calcium chloride or nitrate. Similar separations may be effected when the precipitated tricalcium phosphate is treated with sulphuric. hydrochloric or nitric acids.
