Abstract
The process of preparing a mixed manure containing nitrogen and phosphate described in the parent Specification is modified by the use of phosphoric acid, or a soluble acid phosphate such as monocalcium, monopotassium, or monoammonium orthophosphate, in place of sulphuric acid, for effecting the conversion of cyanamide into urea. The product is then free from calcium sulphate. According to an example, calcium cyanamide in aqueous suspension is decomposed by carbon dioxide, filtered, and the solution treated with phosphoric acid, followed by addition of insoluble calcium phosphate, lime, or calcium carbonate.ALSO:The process of preparing a mixed manure containing nitrogen and phosphate described in the parent Specification is modified by the use of phosphoric acid, or a soluble phosphate such as monocalcium, monopotassium, or monoammonium orthophosphate, in place of sulphuric acid for effecting the conversion of cyanamide into urea. The product is thus obtained free from calcium sulphate. According to an example, calcium cyanamide in aqueous suspension is decomposed by carbon dioxide, filtered, and the solution treated with phosphoric acid, followed by addition of insoluble calcium phosphate, lime, or calcium carbonate.
