Abstract

294,148. Negishi, E. July 18, 1927, [Convention date]. Mules.-In an arrangement for piecing broken ends in a mule a roller 1, Figs. 2 and 3, is mounted to rotate and to be carried in the curved path P, P1, P2. A brush 3 and plate 5 are mounted on an arm carried by the shaft 2 of the roller. At the time of backing-off the roller 1 is in the position P, and the brush moves round from R1' to R2 carrying the broken end over the plate 5. The carriage moves further in and the roller 1 moves to P2 placing the broken end against the front roller 9. At the same time the plate 5 engages a knife 6, Fig. 3, and the tangled end is cut off. The end emerging from the rollers 9 is placed against the broken end held between the rollers 1, 9 and they are twisted together when the spindles begin to rotate.
