Apparatus.-A relay for regulating apparatus comprises a movable deflecting device 6, Fig. 1, adapted to dip to a greater or less extent into a liquid jet 20 passing from a nozzle 4 to a nozzle 5, and thus vary the pressure acting on a regulating piston 10 or a pilot valve controlling the piston. The device 6 may consist of a knifeedged plate, a prism, or, as shown in Fig. 5, of a disc adapted to co-operate with two jets.
