Abstract

Lakes.-The phospho-molybdo-tungsten compounds prepared by the process described in Specification 216,486, which may be separated by crystallization of their sodium salts into compounds of the form (aWO3+bMoO3) P2O5.3H2O and (cWO3+dMoO3) P2O3.3H2O, where (a+b) = 24 and (c+d) = 18, are reduced by the usual reducing agents such as sulphurous acid, bisulphites, hydrosulphites or grape-sugar to produce black crystalline compounds from which lakes may be prepared, for example lakes with basic dyes or with acid dyes containing sulpho groups and free or combined amino groups. Rhodamine B giving a red lake very fast to light.
