Abstract
291,720. Chanard, A. June 3, 1927, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-A multiple jet carburettor comprises two parallel rows of small choke tubes 1 - - 5 each provided with a fuel nozzle e, the pair of choke tubes 1 being permanently open to the body a which is connected at a<1> to the induction pipe, and the remaining pairs of choke tubes being brought into action in succession by a valve comprising a pedal-operated plug f on which is mounted a sleeve g. The plug f and sleeve g are provided respectively with ports i, k, and the sleeve g is slidable on the plug f, its movement being limited by a stop l and a shoulder o. As the valve is opened, the plug f first moves relatively to the sleeve g and the ports i, k are brought into alignment, thus bringing the choke tubes 2 into action. The two parts of the valve then move together, each pair of choke tubes starting to come into action through the ports i, k before the end of the valve has completely uncovered the outlets of the preceding pair of choke tubes. The fuel is lifted from a low level tank by suction and passes to a series of fuel pipes c, each of which is provided with a filter d and supplies a pair of nozzles e.
