Abstract
291,380. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. May 31, 1927, [Convention date]. Copper sulphate.-Waste liquors, and precipitates from such, obtained in the manufacture of cuprammonium silk, are treated with sulphuric acid to dissolve the copper present as copper sulphate, and also carbonize any organic matter which may be present. Sulphuric acid in excess of that required to convert the copper into sulphate is added, unless already present, and the mixture heated above 100‹ C., preferably between 130‹-140‹ C. The organic matter is decomposed, with the separation of carbon, and may then be removed and the resulting solution worked up to obtain the copper sulphate in a form sufficiently pure to be used again in the production of spinning solutions.
