290,922. Murrell, W. H. Dec. 7, 1927. Boxes formed from special blanks; handles.- A folding box is formed from a blank comprising a central panel 1, side panels 14 - - 17 and intermediate corner pieces 2 - - 5, each corner piece being cut without waste of material to form a tongue 19 attached to one side panel and a complementary locking-piece 20 attached to the adjacent side panel so that when the box is set up by folding the side panels at right angles to the panel 1 the tongue 19 can be inserted into a slot 21 in the panel to which the locking-piece is attached and the locking-piece can be folded back against the latter panel to slip behind the end 22 of the tongue and lock it in position; the slots 21 are preferably V-shaped. The box may be provided with a handle formed by an extension piece integral with, or secured to, the blank at one end and bent over with its other end secured to the opposite side of the box; a lid formed from a similar blank but with a slot to receive the handle may be provided.
