Whipple trees.- A device applicable as a whipple tree or neck-yoke in draught appliances for road vehicles comprises a bar 10 formed at its ends with hooks 11 and carrying levers 12 connected to links 13 pivoted together at 15 so that a downward pull on the bar 10 or an upward pull at the pivot 15 causes the levers to be held in position to close the hooks. When used as a whipple tree or neck-yoke, a ring 16 carried by the pivot 15 is connected to the pole of the vehicle, the traces being engaged in the hooks 11.
