283,979. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). July 17, 1926. Azo dyes, soluble chromium compounds of. - The dyestuffs obtainable by coupling o-oxydiazo compounds with a naphthol or an arylaminonaphthol sulphonic acid are converted into chromium compounds by treating them with chroming agents at an elevated temperature and under pressure. The products may be aftertreated with alkaline agents. In examples (1) The dyestuff from diazotized 1:2:4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid and #-naphthol is heated in an autoclave with chromium formate solution, the product is salted out and the resulting paste boiled with caustic soda lye, neutralized with hydrochloric acid and the chromium compound again salted out; it dyes wool in fast blue shades, and (2) the dyestuff from diazotized 4-nitro-2- aminophenol and 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol-6- sulphonic acid is heated in an autoclave with an alkaline chromium glycerol solution prepared according to Example 1 of Specification 186,635; the product dyes wool in fast dark brown shades.
