Abstract

Gas, supplying by meter; valves, special arrangements of.-In coin-freed gas meter mechanism, the valve spindle C, Fig. 3, that is connected to the coin-freed mechanism passes through a stuffing-box A permanently fixed to the valve-box B. It carries a curved arm E that, at the end of the movement of the coin-freed mechanism, closes the inlet valve L. The valve L is carried by a rod K pivoted between posts J. Figs. 3 and 6, in a disc I, the portion of the rod K above the posts being acted on by a spring M to hold the valve open. The spring M is secured to the disc I by a screw P which engages a recess in the edge of an opening F in the valvebox for the purpose of positioning the valve. The opening F is surrounded by an internally threaded wall G and, after the disc I is placed in position with two washers T, a cap U is screwed on the wall to form a gas-tight joint. By unscrewing the cap U the valve may be readily removed for repairs and adjustment.
