Abstract

215,462. Smith, T. O., and Becke, C. R. Feb. 13, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Ball and float valves. - A ball float valve is provided with a device which enables the relative positions of the float and valve to be adjusted, and also enables the float lever to be readily detached. The valve member b, Fig. 1, is recessed at g to receive the point of an adjusting screw o mounted on a projection from the lever c. The lever carries a pin m resting in a hooked lug l, from which it may be detached on unscrewing the screw o. In a modification, the screw o may screw into the valve member, while its head is engaged by a lug projecting from the lever c. In another modification, Fig. 5, the lever c is pivoted against the edge of a screwed cap z, which is adjustable to vary the operative position of the lever and to enable it to be detached. In another modification, Fig. 6, the end of the lever c is pivoted in the lower end of a stirrup a<1>, through which the adjusting screw b<1> passes at'the top. The float lever may alternatively be arranged above the valve casing. The Provisional Specification describes also other methods of mounting the valve and adjusting the operative relation of the float lever and valve.
