The shaft F of the controllers is provided with cams j<1> - - j<4> which engage with stops S<1> - - S<4> energized by solenoids T<1> - - T<4> from the contact-making ammeter M in the transmission line. The controllers have a no-load position in which small primary and secondary magnetizing coils R, Q are in circuit, these coils being cut out. on load.
