Abstract

Strap and cord fastenings.-A device of the kind described in the. parent Specification for securing string, ropes, straps &c., is stamped from one piece of metal to provide a base A, Fig. 1, with an open-sided perforation or slot into which the string can be passed laterally, the toothed member C which operates with the edges B of the slot to secure the string being formed on a tongue which is bent over at D to bring the teeth to the required position. Fig. 2 shows the blank for a modified form in which a. tongue E is provided adapted to be bent up and passed through a perforation F in member C. The tongue gives support to member C during the tightening of the string, and may be subsequently hammered flat to secure the string and may be covered with wax or molten metal to seal the fastening. Fig. 3 shows a form of blank, to be bent along the line D, provided with an aperture G to which the free end of the string may be secured by knotting. The fastenings are designed for use with string drawn from a ball &c. so that only one free end is available. Modified forms are described including one specially for flat webbing &c. and others for two strings drawn from separate balls and crossing each other at right-angles in parcelling.
