Motor meters. - A meter which is adapted to run continuously in order to minimize frictional errors is connected by epicyclic or other gearing with a constant-speed motor so that no load no motion is transmitted to the counting-train. The worm a on the meter shaft drives, through wheels b, c, one of a pair of sun pinions d, e, the other of which is driven through wheels f, g from a worm h on the shaft of a small constant-speed motor, clock, &c., the arrangement being such that at no load the sun pinions d, e are driven at the same speed in opposite directions and consequently do not drive the counting-gear shaft j which carries the planet pinion i. The counting-gear k is therefore only affected when current is being taken in the consumer's circuit. To avoid errors due to variations in voltage or frequency an electric constant-speed motor having the same characteristic as the meter is preferably employed. Specification 11825/13 is referred to.
