Screw motors.-In a windmill in which the wheel 2 is turned into the wind by an auxiliary wheel 9 which is positioned by a vane device 8, the connection between the frame of the auxiliary wheel and the vane device comprises speed-increasing gearing, Fig. 4, in order to ensure that the apparatus shall function for all variations in the direction of the wind. The member 25 of the tail vane is secured to a pinion 32 which is connected by gears 33, 34 to a pinion 35 on the sleeve 36 which supports the wheel 9. The pinions 33, 34 are carried by a shaft mounted in a frame member 30 of the tail vane. Specification 192,764, [Class 4, Aeronautics], is referred to in connection with the vane device 8.
