279,903. Stauber, G. Oct. 30, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 279,094, [Class 122 (v), Stuffing-boxes &c.]. Balancing moving parts. - In a turbine or centrifugal machine the radial clearances 2, 3 at the sides of the rotor 1 are made with straight walls converging in the direction in which leakage occurs. Axial movement of the rotor in either direction produces a rise of pressure in the corresponding clearance which restores the rotor to the medium position. The clearances mav be made of unequal sizes in order tu balance an axial thrust.
