Cam-actuated pumps; pumps with reciprocating and rotating pistons; regulating delivery by opening suction and delivery valves.-A pump for oil &c. comprises a plunger a<1> which is reciprocated by a cam d<1> on an adjustable sleeve d, and is rotated by gearing a<3>, e to control the inlet and delivery ports c<1>, c<2>. By adjusting the sleeve d angularly by means of a projection d<5>, the phase relation between the reciprocation of the plunger and the opening of the ports c<1>, c<2> is altered, thereby varying the output of the pump. A segment of the end of the plunger is cut away for the purpose of controlling the ports. In another form, the plunger is reciprocated by a pin on the sleeve d engaging a cam groove in the plunger.
