Abstract

279,205. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Ltd., Shepherdson, A., and Thornley, S. Aug. 26, 1926. Dibenzanthrone dyes. - Benzanthrone and its unsulphonated derivatives, other than dibenzanthrones, are condensed with hydroxylamine and the resulting compounds subjected to alkali fusion. The products dye cotton from the vat in grey to black shades. According to examples, benzanthrone and the methylbenzanthrone from 2-methylanthraquinone are respectively condensed with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in presence of concentrated sulphuric acid and ferrous sulphate and the products fused with caustic potash at 240‹ C.
